About the Anthony P. Infante Scholarship

Anthony (Tony) P. Infante, Jr.

Anthony (Tony) P. Infante, Jr. was born on July 7, 1954 in Newark, New Jersey. He entered law enforcement as a Police Officer with the Newark Police Department at age 18 in 1972. In 1980 he joined the Port Authority of New York/New Jersey where he served for 21 years until his untimely death on September 11, 2001.

Tony earned a BS in Business Management from St. Peter’s College and a Masters Degree in Business from Seton Hall University. He later served as an assistant professor of business in the Masters Program at Seton Hall . He was also a graduate of the FBI National Academy. At the time of his death, Tony served as a member of the ALEAN Board of Directors.

On 9/11/01 Tony entered the North Tower to help evacuate innocent victims and was killed when that tower collapsed.

In 2002 ALEAN named its annual scholarships in honor of Tony, a fitting tribute to one who dedicated his life to the higher education of law enforcement professionals and their families.

In September of each year, ALEAN awards scholarships to ALEAN members agency employees and their family members. To be eligible a candidate must either be a sworn/commissioned employee of an ALEAN member agency or an eligible family member of a sworn/commissioned employee of a member agency. The candidate must be a registered student of an institution of higher education.
